SATHYABAMA UNIVERSITY formerly known as Sathyabama Engineering College was established in the year 1987 under JEPPIAAR Educational Trust to promote technical education in the state of Tamil Nadu. Sathyabama University is one of South India's premier academic and research universities. It is an intellectual destination that draws inspired scholars.
It is a research led university with 23 Departments that offers 25 courses at Undergraduate level, 45 courses at Postgraduate level in various branches of Engineering and Technology, with more than 15,000 students from all corners of India.

Under the guidance of our Founder chancellor col.Dr.Jeppiaar, out Directors, Dr. Mariazeena Johnson and Dr.MarieJohnson took up an intitiative on space research to design and develop an nano satellite with the mission of pollution monitoring.
A team of students A team of students and faculty members of Sathyabama University from different discipline worked under the guidance of scientists from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). To develop the fully functional Flight model nano satellite-Sathyabamasat.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) created history by launching 20 satellites (includingSathyabamasat) in one go on 21st June ,2016 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota. Dr.Mariazeena Johnson along with team Sathyabamasat was appreciated by our honourable PrimeMinisterShri.NarendraModiathisoffice.
